Bowling Rules – SJ
Markets: San Jose
Format: Bowling
Individual Handicaps
The handicap shall be 90 percent of the difference between the bowler’s average and 210. The handicap shall not be limited.
The first night’s average shall be used for the first 2 games bowled to determine a handicap and it will adjust weekly based on the bowler’s scores.
If a bowler misses the first night, that bowler’s average will be determined in week 2 after two games have been bowled. Their week 1 score will be determined retroactively.
1 point is awarded to the winner of each team game, and 1 point is awarded for the winner of the team series (total pinfall with handicap).
When bowling against a BYE: The team must bowl within 50 pins of the team average to win the points. The team average is the sum of the averages of the bowlers who bowled. In the case of a “tie”, the team wins the points (points are not split).
When bowling against a FORFEIT: The team must bowl within 50 pins of the team average to win the points. The team average is the sum of the averages of the bowlers who bowled. In the case of a “tie”, the team wins the points (points are not split).
Team Standings
Team standings are determined by the percentage of wins to losses for each team.
Tie breakers
1. Winning percentage
2. Head-to-head result
3. Overall record against other teams in or tied for playoffs (winning percentage clarification — 0-1 is same as 0-2, but 1-3 is better than 0-1).
4. Number of wins
5. Record against next best common opponent
6. If team forfeited, loses tie breaker if other tiebreaker rules don’t resolve seeding
7. If none of the above tie breakers resolve seeding, ZogSports will execute a coin toss
Absent Bowlers
If a bowler is absent, one of two things may occur.
- The bowler may make up their bowling either before Thursday or by Tuesday of the following week
- We will use the bowler’s average
Substitutes are not allowed and all players must be on roster.
If you must forfeit, email forfeits@zogsports.com by 2PM the day of your game.
